Action taken by the Fund before 2001 to trace lapsed members involved:

• Using the services of the labour recruiting agency, Teba Limited.
• Visits to mines
• Visits to community centres, and 
• Relying on word of mouth.

The mines 1970 Fund agreed to set up a panel of tracing agent to ensure maximum success which are:

• Umzuzi
• Tracker
• Cold-Case
• Teba

Tracing agents’ performance are measured on a continues basis and regular feedback sessions are arranged with each of the tracing agents. 

Data washing takes place on bi-annual basis and data has been shared with all tracing agents’ multiple times to ensure better success.
